Mike & Carol Newman opened Cotswold Bowls Centre, Reading, in 1987 as a Franchise of Cotswold Bowls Centre at Stonehouse, Glos. It was the original Franchise of Cotswold Bowls Centre but is now the Head Office, Administrative and Mail order Centre for the Company. The Company now have Franchise outlets at Cardiff and Stonehouse, who offer the same goods and services.
Cotswold Bowls Centre was formed in the early 1980`s by Clare and Norman Hook to serve bowlers in and around Stroud in Gloucester. They were probably the first company to supply top quality, own label products especially for the bowler. It was always Company policy to have own label products manufactured to our own exacting specifications. This policy continues today under the present owners.
Mike & Carol acquired the Stonehouse business in 1994 when Robert, who had left college in 1993 and already an England International , joined the family business. We pride ourselves in being able to offer top class advice from Robert, Commonwealth Games Gold Medalist 2002, Mike - a National Champion on many occasions and Carol - a County Bowler.
In 1990, Cotswold Bowls Centre, Reading, who had been supplying reasonable quantities of embroidered garments through a local embroidery company, C.J. Images, decided to buy the business and bring it into our group of companies, in particular to develop Cotswold Bowls Centre requirements. We are now a leading supplier of Club shirts and other high quality embroidered garments, and our ownership of C.J.Images enables us to give an extremely quick service whilst maintaining strict quality control.
